Financial Services Firm Modernizes IT with a Microsoft Cloud Migration

Location: Concord, CA| Industry: Financial Services

A financial services firm in Concord helps small and mid-sized businesses secure long term, low fixed rate financing for commercial real estate. With a growing employee base and increasing requirements for secure collaboration and remote access, the firm wanted to modernize its IT environment to improve reliability and reduce the operational burden of maintaining on-premises infrastructure.

The Challenge: Moving Beyond an Aging On-Premises Environment

As the firm grew, it’s on premises infrastructure began causing recurring issues related to host stability and resource constraints. Leadership needed a move to the Microsoft cloud that would support remote work, improve system reliability and performance, and reduce the effort required to keep systems running and secure. The goals included migrating core systems to the Microsoft cloud, moving files and collaboration workflows to SharePoint Online, transitioning identity to Azure AD, and modernizing device management through Microsoft Intune with Azure AD joined endpoints.

The Solution: Cloud Migration and Modern Endpoint Management

The firm engaged Xantrion through a referral and selected the team based on cultural fit, values alignment, strong ratings, and local presence. Xantrion led the implementation phase from August 2025 through November 2025, with project communication primarily handled through virtual meetings and consistent checkpoints.

Xantrion partnered with the firm to transition it’s on-premises IT environment to the Microsoft cloud.  Xantrion delivered a production ready SharePoint Online environment, Intune managed endpoints with documented policies, Azure AD joined devices, and supporting documentation to enable ongoing internal IT operations.

The Outcome: Improved Reliability, Better Remote Access, and Reduced Overhead

After the migration, the firm eliminated recurring issues tied to its aging on-premises host and resource limitations. The new environment improved reliability and performance enabled secure remote access to files and devices, and centralized device management. By moving to a scalable, cloud-based infrastructure, the firm reduced downtime and ongoing IT overhead.

At the conclusion of the venture, a company executive shared, “Xantrion’s proactive approach stood out. They anticipated potential challenges and addressed them before they impacted our operations.” The firm noted that key milestones were delivered on time, communication stayed clear throughout the project, and the resulting environment is more stable and easier to manage.
