We've talked a lot about the problem of ransomware, but something good may come out of it after all. It turns out the threat of ransomware is motivating the IT security industry to come up with new ways to protect endpoints. According to a new Forrester Research report, security pros are shifting their attention away from traditional endpoint security tools like antivirus software and host intrusion prevention systems, which aren't usually able to detect ransomware-containing malware, in favor of better ways to detect and remediate attacks.
At Xantrion, we're keeping an eye on these new technologies, especially endpoint detection and response (EDR), which is showing up in all the major security vendors' offerings. We don't want any of our clients' data or applications held for ransom.
